His Brother’s Wife is the first film in which Mr. Taylor and Miss Stanwyck co-starred. Their real life relationship was in its early stages and the love scenes are quite convincing. Although this film can’t decide whether it wants to be a romantic love story or a serious medical drama, the uncritical viewer can enjoy it a lot.
The other Taylor-Stanwyck films are This Is My Affair, 1937 and The Night Walker, 1964.
His Brother’s Wife was notable for some Robert Taylor beefcake.
and some pretty convincing romance.
I love this movie. It makes very little sense because it’s basically 2 completely different movies smashed together but the wonderful chemistry between Barbara and Bob is magnetic. I think if they had stuck to the story of 2 people getting together and falling in love without taking them to the jungle it could have been a really great movie. Nevertheless, it is what it is and I love it anyway, haha!

I agree. The two stories in one is disconcerting but I guess it was to give the Taylor character some gravitas so he wasn’t just a useless playboy. Stanwyck’s character works for a living so he has to do something to deserve her.

I wish Taylor’s movie would more often. Specially the very early ones.,, Unable to get anymore!!! I just love him..he has a very sweet looking face when he is as young… handsome as he grew older and charming and a gentleman at later age..sad he’s gone so young. I kept looking at his photos all the time and couldn’t believe he is not there. His birthday will be in one week.

Doris, there will 3 Robert Taylor movies in September on TCM in the USA but only one in August. It’s “Her Cardboard Lover.” Not his best but entertaining and he looks very handsome. Mr. Taylor would be 119 if he were alive. If he only could stopped smoking, he would have lived a lot longer. Thanks for writing. Judith
