About giraffe44

I became a Robert Taylor fan at the age of 15 when his TV show, "The Detectives" premiered. My mother wanted to watch it because she remembered Mr. Taylor from the thirties. I took one look and that was it. I spent the rest of my high school career watching Robert Taylor movies on late night TV, buying photos of him, making scrapbooks and being a typical teenager. College, marriage and career intervened. I remember being sad when Mr. Taylor died. I mailed two huge scrapbooks to Ursula Thiess. I hope she got them. Time passed, retirement, moving to Florida. Then in 2012 my husband Fred pointed that there were two Robert Taylor movies that evening on Turner Classic Movies--"Ivanhoe" and "Quentin Durward." I watched both and it happened all over again. I started this blog both for fans and for people who didn't know about Robert Taylor. As the blog passes 200,000 views I'm delighted that so many people have come by and hope it will help preserve the legacy of this fine actor and equally good man.

Thank you so much Judith for your wonderful present to all Robert Taylor fans. You are so appreciated.
Wanted to share this with you. I have watched a TV bio. Stars of the Silver Screen for years and waited in vain for an episode about Robert Taylor, and gave up hoping it would eventuate.
However I just upgraded my TV and my Foxtel account and to my surprise I was able to access content of all of the series. More surprise when scrolling through I found the one for Robert Taylor which I did not know existed. Watched it last night and loved it.
Anyway I suppose you have seen this ages ago as Australia appears to not have the same content as you do in the States and as you know we no longer have TCM movies on our Pay TV.
Saw him featured in another TV bio. with Barbara Stanwyck years ago which was most disappointing as the comments about him were negative and suggested he was not much of an actor, not nice.
Anyway thank you again and I am so proud of my American cousins for their support for us with our
    terrible bushfire crisis.
hope this gets through, have had trouble with WordPress since i changed my email address

Hi, June, I’ve never seen the bio you mentioned. I did see the earlier one which was really a homage to Barbara Stanwyck and treated Mr. Taylor badly. My heart breaks when I see the pictures from Australia. Being an animal lover, I am so sad that so many innocent animals have died—someone said a billion. But the rescue efforts are inspiring. Pray for heavy rain. Judith
