Welcome to my new blog.

This is going to be an idiosyncratic appreciation of American actor Robert Taylor (1911-1969), his life and his work.  I have a ton of pictures (ca. 3600) and will include them throughout.   Come back when there’s actually something to read.

About giraffe44

I became a Robert Taylor fan at the age of 15 when his TV show, "The Detectives" premiered. My mother wanted to watch it because she remembered Mr. Taylor from the thirties. I took one look and that was it. I spent the rest of my high school career watching Robert Taylor movies on late night TV, buying photos of him, making scrapbooks and being a typical teenager. College, marriage and career intervened. I remember being sad when Mr. Taylor died. I mailed two huge scrapbooks to Ursula Thiess. I hope she got them. Time passed, retirement, moving to Florida. Then in 2012 my husband Fred pointed that there were two Robert Taylor movies that evening on Turner Classic Movies--"Ivanhoe" and "Quentin Durward." I watched both and it happened all over again. I started this blog both for fans and for people who didn't know about Robert Taylor. As the blog passes 200,000 views I'm delighted that so many people have come by and hope it will help preserve the legacy of this fine actor and equally good man.

Wow this is quite the post. Lots more reading to do here which will make great cold winter days reading. What I have read so far is awesome. I love Robert Taylor and have watched all the movies of his I could find on-line. Now I am checking out the libraries. Surprised by the # of great classic movies they have. You did a wonderful, overwhelming job. Thanx for all your hard work.

    Dear Robert Taylor’s fans,
I have always loved Robert Taylor, ever since I have recollection that I am alive. I think he was a wonderful actor, a gentleman, a Star like few others have been.
I always have wanted to see pictures of him with John Wayne; with Alan Ladd; with Burt Lancaster
All the best and please keep on going. ‘The new king’, as he was once called, deserves the best,
    Álvaro

Alvaro, Mr. Taylor was everything you say, and more. I’ve been doing this blog since 2012 and have no intention of stopping. Have you drawn Robert Taylor? Thanks for writing. Judith,
